We first posted this last year and thought it would be great to share with you again this year. For Memorial Day last year, the Washington Post reported that cemeteries, struggling to keep up with droves of veterans and soldiers now dying, couldn’t find enough trumpet players for the final honors. Some resorted to blasting taps from a boombox or CD player. Others began using “ceremonial bugles” — horns inserted with digital devices that play taps at the push of a button. One retired Air Force Master Sergeant decided that wasn’t good enough.

Unless some thing earth-shattering happens between now and Memorial Day, this will be the last post until then. I hope everyone has a safe and fantastic weekend. We’ll see you right back here Tuesday as that is when the 14th Street bridge rehabilitation project kicks off so I am sure there will be lots to talk about then. Until then, be sure to click on the video in the Washington post story. You’ll be glad you did.

Happy Memorial Day!
